Human Impact of World War II

Human Impact of World War II

This lesson plan should be precluded by an overview of the Second World War, and can be used as a supplementary lesson that offers a deeper lens into the war's violence and its driving forces. Students should have a basic understanding of the historical context of the war, including its major causes, players, and impacts. I

In this lesson, students will:

  1. Develop a deeper, more critical understanding of the latent victims of war and how cycles of violence come to fruition.

  2. Corroborate different perspectives on the atrocities committed during World War II to gain a better understanding of its effects on underprivileged communities.

  3. Recognize the role of racism and other modes of oppression that aid and perpetuate cycles of violence.

The standards covered in this lesson are: APUSH.1.A and 1.B, APUSH.4.A and .B, APUSH.6.D

IMPORTANT TW: This lesson plan contains very heavy and graphic material regarding atrocities against groups such as ethnic Jews, Japanese Americans, and East/Southeast Asian women and children. Before delving into this content, ensure that your students are aware of its sensitivity and possible triggers.
